Understanding and meeting the needs of our consumers is at the heart of Dishwash product development. As part of the formulation team, you will work in a multi-disciplinary business environment ensuring the development of new technologies and formulations to support our Global Innovation Portfolio. This predominately laboratory based role will play an important part in developing technologies and formulations to deliver superior benefits to dishwash consumers. In Homecare R&D we adopt a digital first approach in designing and executing performance tests therefore we also expect the data capture as an outcome of all laboratory experiments using tools like LIMS, ELN & SDC.
JOB PURPOSE
You will be involved in driving the development of new technologies and formulations for our global Dishwash category. You will work together with a cross-functional/technical team to develop new superior and more sustainable products for our core global portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in a team of formulation scientists supporting the technical project team to develop superior and sustainable Dishwash products
- Support the development of chassis re-design
- Validate new superior and sustainable technologies
- Validate product saving options to fuel the category growth
- Build domain expertise in dishwash formulations
- Support the development of new digital and automated methods to support formulation development
- Support development of demo and KBS approaches to bring to life benefits of superior dishwash formulations
- Work according to laboratory safety rules to keep laboratory environment clean and safe for all, ensuring compliance with COSHH and SOP requirements.

Key Skills
- Laboratory formulation experience and expertise
- Good organisation and time-management
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills. A bias for action.
- Ability to use digital tools like MS Excel, Power Point, LIMS, ELN & SDC and report the outcome of an experiment in a clear concise way.
- Experimental design, familiarity with statistical tools, statistical data analysis and statistical interpretation of data.
- Problem solving skills with practical creativity.
- Ability to work with in multi-functional teams both internal and external.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in assessment and reporting is critical
Essential Criteria
- BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in Physical Sciences or Engineering (including Physics, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry or Biochemistry).
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in working in Home or Personal Care formulation roles

Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money.In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
