ABOUT MBS
MBS, Unilever’s Marketing and Business Services Procurement team, is responsible for Unilever’s sourcing and supplier strategy and execution for all third party spend across Marketing, Business Services, and IT, supporting the business requirements of our Brands, Business Groups, Business Units and functions to drive sustainable growth through strategic supplier management, cost and value management, sustainability, and innovation, aligned with Unilever’s GAP 2030 Strategy. The team manages an annual spend of ~11 Bn Euro with a supplier base of about 30,000. Within MBS, the Marketing Spend is around € 6 Bn across all portfolios of Creative Agencies, Digital & D-Com, Ad Production, Field Force, POSM/Premiums etc. within ATL and BTL space. Promo & Commerce, which is a portfolio of all BTL commodities, is around € 1.6 Bn.
The P&C Strategy & Execution manager is an exciting new position who will work very closely with the Global P&C Procurement Director in building the overall multi-year BTL strategy whilst collaborating with all BG/BUs to understand the business asks and future priorities. The role is expected to understand each portfolio’s value chain, the cost structures, fundamental business objectives and other data points and at the same bring outside in perspective, external market insights and then stablish a clear framework of how the future for Marketing and BTL should look like, build a roadmap to implement the yearly plans and technology solutions for future-readiness.
The P&C senior manager needs to focus on data gathering, data analysis, think long term and build actionable strategy and year-on-year roadmap for implementation across the 8 BG regions/BU markets. The strategy should also help translate procurement efforts into increased efficiencies for the portfolio and business. This is a critical role in supporting the global portfolio that is currently transforming internally and externally, driving big unlocks and digital/tech transformations with the primary focus on driving efficiencies in our sourcing and portfolio management.
The role is as much about data & analysis, creating actionable insights and strategy creation as it is about internal collaboration, project management and driving transformational culture within the global team. You will be reviewing and sharing the outcomes with the MBS & Procurement Leadership Teams along with build relationship with key business stakeholders in CD, Brand, GMOs etc.
Key Accountabilities:
- Understand the business needs related to € 1.6 Bn spend and bring deep expertise and insights across the detailed value chain and supply base to translate the business requirements into effective future-fit procurement strategies.
- Support portfolio leads in their portfolio strategies as part of the umbrella P&C strategy aligned with Business Group (BG)/Business Unit (BU) priorities.
- Together with key business functions and the procurement teams, support with transformational sourcing strategies, operating models, and supplier relationships that help drive UL’s GAP 2030
- Help build a strong & consistent performance framework across P&C portfolios to drive tracking and returns of marketing investments across P&C portfolios (Field Force, E&A, POSM and Premiums, Commerce)
- Support tracking against financial targets and other KPIs (including value delivery) as per business plan objectives, accountable for delivery of results from all BGs and BUs globally.
- Support SRM to unlock value leveraging ROMI as a growth engine as part of Unilever Partner to Win strategy
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders globally, to support business, MBS and Procurement priorities and enable rapid alignment and deployment.
- Lead rigorous execution of the priorities and transformation initiatives across the globe E2E
- Future proof the agenda and strategy by driving digital approaches, while building technology enablers to help manage selected portfolio and scope, while driving impactful sustainability agenda.
- Support internal performance management and reporting including creation and stewardship of relevant key performance indicators
Experience Required:
Qualification/experience
- 12+ years of procurement experience, including proven and deep experience in overall Marketing procurement or related field or indirect procurement portfolios
- Strategic sourcing, portfolio strategy expertise, with experience in managing complex portfolio/category, at global or multi-regional level
- Expert in data & analytics, reading data and coming up with strong insights incl.
- Strong understanding of marketing E2E value chain and associated tech including latest tech advancements
- Understanding of financial implications of marketing investments and ramifications
- Understanding of supply market, value chain, and FMCG knowledge.
- Experience in stakeholder management
- Experience on business facing roles, problem solving or project management
- Demonstrated and proven leadership capabilities to lead a virtual global team
- Experience in shaping and leading transformational business process reengineering, with experience driving Change Management initiatives.
