Pilot Plant Supervisor

The North American Ice Cream and Nutrition R&D team is looking for a person with a passion for processing and equipment maintenance, who enjoys working with others, to manage and supervise the pilot plant facility in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

The candidate must be skilled in the challenge of managing and troubleshooting process equipment used for unit operations such as mixing, heat exchange, freezing, emulsifying, etc. The candidate needs good people and communication skills and will partner with cross functional project teams, including food developers and engineers, to supervise a small staff of technicians to deliver projects on time and in full.  The Pilot Plant Supervisor will meet weekly with the R&D team to develop the following weeks pilot plant production schedule and scope of work. The position is responsible for managing the Englewood Cliffs R&D Pilot Plant in compliance with FDA, OSHA, and Unilever Quality requirements. The position works with R&D engineers and vendors to develop and deliver digital solutions.  

• Maintains a fit-for-purpose pilot plant and works with development engineers to deliver key projects (i.e. innovation, cost reduction, quality improvement, operational improvement, sourcing transfer), ensuring the facility is ready to run and personnel available to execute work.

• Lead, schedule, and manage pilot plant operations working closely with product developers, engineers contractors, and vendors

• Ensures full compliance with FDA food safety and OSHA occupational safety regulations and conduct inspections and audits

• Develop, update and revise SOPs, SSOPs and LOTO procedures and manage training program of pilot plant personnel

• Working knowledge and hands-on operation of processing and packaging equipment with ability to troubleshoot with engineers/developers, as needed

• Manage equipment maintenance and calibration program

• Lead implementation of capital investments for the pilot plant

• Lead Change Management and Risk Assessment for pilot plant operations

• Support digital integration of the pilot plant for data acquisition of process information as well as new software evaluation and implementation.

• Support X-Ray operations for consumer test sample inspection

• Maintain Measurement lab and arrange for vendor maintenance, calibration and repair of analytical equipment

Required:

• B.S. degree in Engineering or relevant years of technical work experience installing, maintaining and repairing process equipment and supervising said work or process operations within a plant.

• Project Management and coordination and prioritization of work with colleagues

• Supervisory experience a plus

• Deep knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance and repair

• Person who likes working with people and enjoy hands-on work with machines and equipment

Pay: The pay range for this position is $68,000 to $102,000. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
