Background & Purpose of the Job

The FI Engineer shall manage the process parameters of the manufacturing system, making sure that there are no deviations and so ensuring the stability of the process in the Packaging area.

The FI Engineer will own and execute the improvement agenda in our Dove Bar Soap factory. The projects and activities will mainly be in the Packaging Unit, but they will be based on a wide range of safety, quality, infrastructure, savings, and equipment improvements.  They will drive the site masterplan for dove soap processing aligned with the business targets of Delivery, Productivity, Cost, Safety and Quality. This role reports to the Manufacturing Excellence Manager at the Site.  

FI Engineer is contact with R&D, Quality, Equipment suppliers and with Safety and Environment departments to define the ideal working conditions of the process in a way that the product will be produced under the expected specifications with a stable process which will be safe for the people and the environment.

After defining all the necessary parameters, the process engineer will build the operating procedures and organize the workplaces to make sure that the production team can meet the expected performance maintaining the quality standards.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

  • This role is key on the Run to Standard Program. This person will partner with the other 2 cell members on a group of lines’ losses reduction and prevention agenda, as well as savings projects, waste reduction and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Define and maintain the optimum process parameters to ensure the maximum efficiency of equipment and production in accordance with the quality standards set by the company and the technical conditions.
  • Analyze the causes of process failure, main losses, loss of packaging materials, raw materials and finished products as well as poor quality products or incidents in quality. Take part in the development of measures to prevent and eliminate them in the production process.
  • Propose production technology improvement. Participate in projects to upgrade existing equipment, as well as purchase new ones. Participate in conducting trials for new types of packaging materials, raw materials and finished products.
  • Should become a Subject Matter Expert on World Class Manufacturing and Unilever Manufacturing System tools and principles and apply them consistently on regular basis.
  • Participate in developing process sheets and changeover matrixes. Make proposals on the organization of workplaces to reduce labor costs and improve basic conditions.
  • Monitor the standards of production and auxiliary equipment. Identify the causes of equipment malfunctions or defects by developing and managing the centerlines for the production lines.
  • Develop and maintain instructions and standard operating procedures for production operators.
  • Participate in the training of production operators.
  • Develop and maintain a reporting system and working documentation regarding the production process functionality. Develop and support production team to create and update UMS & Run to Standard activity boards.
  • Advice and support production staff on the application of Continuous Improvement techniques.

Experiences & Qualifications:

  • BS in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  •  2+ Years of Process/Pack/Manufacturing Engineering in FMCG, related Industry
  • Proven experience to eliminate loss and waste on significant projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to negotiate.
  • Strong technical knowledge across soap making and packing technology.
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement methods and tools such as TPM, WCM or Kaizen.
  • Experience in statistics and process control tools.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $86,080 to $129,120. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
