CATEGORY/FUNCTION INTRODUCTION

Unilever Foods is a 13+ Billion Euro business representing 22% of Unilever’s TO. 54% of the business is in emerging markets with India, China, Mexico and Brazil being the largest. Unilever Foods business is focused on 3 attractive global verticals condiments, cooking aids and mini-meals and Unilever Food Solutions. There is a geographical focus on new PTAB BU (Pakistan, Türkiye, Arabia, Bangladesh) to accelerate Foods business.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

We are looking for the Foods Regulatory Affairs Lead for PTAB who will be responsible for providing regulatory expertise, strategies and assessments wrt portfolio regulatory compliance, innovations development and shaping future regulatory space (advocacy) for the BU. The role will be based in Türkiye and will have one reporting line based in Pakistan.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Lead PTAB and Türkiye food regulatory agenda for compliance, innovation and advocacy, managing reporting line in Pakistan (WL1) as well as connection with third parties and R&D in Bangladesh and Arabia.

• Compliance: ensure full regulatory compliance of PTAB Foods portfolio
  • Develop and implement regulatory strategies to ensure current and future products, processes and claims comply end-to-end with PTAB product regulations
  • Prepare, review, submit and maintain relevant regulatory documentation/applications on time in full
  • Regulatory Change Management: keep up-to-date with changes in regulations, assess their impact on Foods products/ processes and ensure future fit compliance.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Legal and other local relevant teams to ensure alignment on compliance matters e.g. challenges

• Innovation: Knowledge of Türkiye and PTAB regulations to guide new Foods developments
  • Leads the local and regional regulatory strategy, organization and guidance for the implementation of innovation projects
  • Provides regulatory input and guidance throughout the innovation process to Foods R&D:
    • by completing regulatory assessments, including review of formulation, ingredients, packaging and technical claims
    • by proactively sharing knowledge on upcoming regulatory developments and potential issues and opportunities

• Advocacy/Regulatory influencing: Shaping the future regulatory space
  • Develop and lead technical influencing strategies for Unilever technical positions, working closely with R&D, Legal, External Affairs and other key functions to define consistent and aligned views for the Foods business
  • Represent Unilever on relevant key industry / science associations / committees, and leverage industry organizations representation to achieve positive regulatory outcomes
  • Manage direct key contacts with Authorities on priority regulatory topics for Foods Türkiye business, where needed

• Provide training and support to internal teams on regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Support the digitalization of regulatory change management and development of digital tools for more efficiency.
• Ensure regulatory support in case of issues and incidents

Key interfaces:

PTAB Foods R&D teams, Foods Global RA network, Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Science (SERS), External Stakeholders including industry bodies and regulators, Foods BU LT, Legal, External Affairs.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

Experiences & Qualifications

• Over 10 years of relevant local /regional/global regulatory affairs experience in foods and beverages.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant scientific field

• Proven experience in product registrations and government certifications.
