The Mix Plant Production Lead is designed to be fully functional in the 4-Day work week trial.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Mix Plant Production Lead to join our factory team in Minto, Australia. This role is a leadership role with direct leadership and supervision of the production workforce, including Stores / Warehousing, Mixing and all Production and Shift Reliability roles. In addition to this supervisory function, this role will lead small cross functional improvement teams to drive continuous improvement activities, delivering safety, quality, cost and performance improvements. The role will apply rigorous monitoring of real time performance on the plant and ensure everything is always available to ensure the best outcome, including direct labour, support labour, materials and all resources required for the production teams to succeed.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Plant Manager and when necessary to lead day to day tasks and be a primary contact for site in related matters.
  • Provide direct leadership and supervision to the production operators and shift maintenance staff.
  • Monitoring and eliminating machine losses and material wastes and ensuring the right quality output.
  • Making decisions based on the priorities to achieve the optimal output of the factory.
  • Ensure labour, including indirect support labour, is always appropriately engaged, always focused and prioritized with the changing needs of the production environment.
  • Conduct immediate Root Cause investigations into all deviations, including safety incidents, quality incidents, breakdowns, unplanned downtimes and ensure corrective actions are suitable and rolled out.
  • Build effective relationships with Engineering and Production to aid identification of key improvement areas across production lines.
  • Day to Day management of crewing, leave and timekeeping, ensuring effective crewing is always maintained as well as managing both planned and unplanned leave.
  • Lead Focused Improvement activities and deliver agreed results in conjunction with the site master plan.
  • Spotting and developing talents, initiating further career development opportunities.
  • Provide effective time in attendance, break and fatigue management practices, as well as being responsible for direct input of time in attendance data.
  • Initiate disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Requires flexibility on shift patterns to meet changing business needs.

  • Highly desired a Tertiary qualification in Manufacturing/Engineering related disciplines preferred, but previous experience may supplement with the right candidate.
  • Strong embedded safety, quality and hygiene culture.
  • Experience in a similar role within FMCG or manufacturing industry.
  • Solid knowledge & experience WCM, TPM, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience leading improvement projects and teams.
  • Strong influencing, training and stakeholder management skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, planning, problem solving and communications skills.
  • “Can do” attitude with high desire to succeed and take your career to the next level.
  • Practical examples of improving a process for the betterment of a larger group.
