Reports to: Legal Operations Manager

Location: India – Pune

Terms & Conditions: Full time, right to work required

JOB SUMMARY AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Legal Associate will be part of the Ice Cream Legal Powerhouse which is part of the legal function and provide defined, structured services to the team and to the broader business and will be responsible for:

To support (i) the Global Privacy Team in their business partnering, ensuring data privacy compliance and (ii) to be the first point of contact for our brands and functions as they navigate IC’s privacy processes.

This role requires an understanding of global data privacy laws, a strong sense of ethics, excellent communication skills, ability to work on own initiative and a passion for creating a positive impact.

Responsibilities

Supporting the markets:

  • Acting as first point of contact for our brands and functions during the privacy risk assessment process.
  • Supporting the legal team in markets to handle Data Subject Rights Requests (DSRs) and Privacy Risk Assessments (PRAs).
  • Supporting operational privacy tasks such as data mapping and maintaining records of processing activities.
  • Work collaboratively with our local legal advisors and Central Data Privacy Legal team and Business stakeholders on new projects, including by supporting on local and global privacy risk assessments.
  • Reporting on trends in privacy requests / issues, producing standard reports and supporting the team’s agenda to become more data driven in decisions.

Protecting our consumers and employees

  • Managing updates to privacy and cookie notices and acting as first point of contact for individuals who contact IC centrally with privacy queries.
  • Managing the process to control access to documentation.
  • Supporting the Global Privacy team to ensure that IC employees are trained on privacy.

Key Interfaces

This is a people’s job potentially interfacing with all employees across the globe. Key stakeholders include:

• Business Integrity and the broader Legal function

• Subject matter experts in areas like information security, occupational health, human resources, quality, competition, privacy, etc.

• Third party compliance teams

 • Data privacy team

Key Skills Relevant Experience

• Professional qualification in Law.

• Min 5 years hands-on experience in privacy, data protection or compliance roles ideally within a large complex business environment requiring analysis of data and making balanced risk decisions including:

  • Drafting and maintaining privacy notices, policies, procedures, and guidance.
  • Preparing and delivering data privacy compliance training.
  • Managing data subject rights requests including data subject access and deletion/erasure requests.
  • Conducting data mapping exercises and maintaining records of processing activities.
  • Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments/Privacy Risk Assessments and providing risk based advice.
  • Supporting the investigation and management of privacy incidents/data breaches.
  • Experience using privacy management tools such as OneTrust/ServiceNow
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management. Essential
  • Achieving outcomes and results by influencing the way resources not in your control are utilised.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with colleagues across multiple time zones and countries.
  • Willingness and drive for process excellence.
  • Experience using Microsoft tools to manage and visualize data, especially Excel or PowerBI.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and act on own initiative.

Preferable

  • Experience within a consumer goods or retail environment.
  • Broader ability across Microsoft tools like Sharepoint, Power Automate, so the jobholder can innovate and improve ways of working around documentation, flow management, etc.
