Scope: Personal Care and Beauty & Wellbeing in Poland and cross-Business Group compliance support for the Europe Business Unit

BACKGROUND & JOB PURPOSE
As part of the European Personal Care Regulatory Affairs team you will support the Personal Care and Beauty & Wellbeing businesses in Poland by providing regulatory leadership on compliance, innovation and advocacy activities. You will create significant business impact in Poland by ensuring all innovations have a clear route to compliance in market and you will help create space to launch ground-breaking new innovations and compelling bold claims. You will monitor local regulatory developments to ensure products on the market remain compliant.
You will work closely with the local marketing, market R&D, quality, legal and corporate affairs team in Poland and with the European Regulatory Affairs team to ensure seamless regulatory input into the PC and B&W innovation and advocacy programmes.
In addition you will support EU level cross-Business Group compliance activities.
The role would ideally suit a regulatory affairs assistant looking to further develop their regulatory affairs career or an R&D professional looking to move into regulatory affairs.
WHAT YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE
Local PC and B&W compliance:
Deliver relevant data, regulatory interpretation and/or compliance statements to respond to customer and local regulatory authority requests/complaints Manage local authority inspections/audits (official control body investigations, official replies & clarifications, on-site visits, support for factory & warehouse & customs) Defend competitor challenges in partnership with legal Supply responses for consumer complaints/inquiries related to regulatory compliance Risk assessment for quality incidents or concessions in partnership with legal, market R&D and quality Support market R&D in the evaluation of product labelling Lead the Cosmetovigilance process in Poland Organise external confirmation for claims when required, e.g. local recyclability certificate. Ensure compliance with local Polish regulations including raw material regulations.
Local PC and B&W innovation support:
Provide input on regional/global PC innovations and renovations launching in Poland to ensure compliance Complete claims risk assessments in partnership with legal and market R&D Anticipate regulatory changes and communicate their impact on the current and future PC portfolio in Poland to relevant business partners to ensure business continuity and freedom to operate Ensure timely implementation of EU regulations in Poland in partnership with other relevant functions, e.g. green claims, packaging recyclability, minimum PCR content. Support local activities, e.g., media/customer campaigns Proactively communicate information on regulatory changes, issues, challenges, etc in Poland to the European regulatory affairs network.
Local Advocacy:
Identify and implement winning advocacy strategies to protect our license to operate and create growth opportunities by delivering key PC and B&W business priorities in Poland in partnership with key representatives from the European RA, External Affairs (C&CA), SERS & Legal teams Shape cosmetic related regulatory developments in Poland in alignment with corporate and business priorities including the implementation of EU legislation, e.g. EPR, PPWR, UWWTD Understand who the key Polish stakeholders are and build effective routes for influencing them Be a recognized cosmetic regulatory expert in Poland Drive/defend Unilever cosmetic positions in the external regulatory arena in Poland, e.g. via trade associations and/or direct discussions with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders. Drive our positions on specific cross Business Group topics, e.g. packaging, EPR, plastics, chemicals, via representation on relevant external bodies.
EU Compliance
Support EU level cross-Business Group compliance activities, e.g. preparation of generic compliance letters for new regulations or regulatory changes in partnership when required with legal Become an expert in specific relevant EU regulations to support advocacy, interpretation, impact assessment and communication to relevant business stakeholders.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum BSc in a relevant subject (Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology, Pharmcology, Environmental Science, Product Science/Technology, Regulatory Affairs)
Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience in a European FMCG environment
Experience in product development or regulatory affairs
Experience working with cosmetics
Proven record of working collaboratively at the interface of marketing, regulatory affairs, legal and R&D
Skills
Regulatory understanding, interpretation and compliance; assessment of the impact of regulatory change
Excellent technical communication skills both written and verbal; ability to clearly and simply explain complex regulatory topics to business partners
Stakeholder identification and management
Proactive self-direction with a high level of initiative and persistence; hands-on approach to the delivery of results
Ability to set priorities and focus on what really counts
