JOB PURPOSE:

As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking a highly skilled IT Application Architect to join our dynamic team. The role is part of the Enterprise Architecture team.

The newly created Ice Cream Technology function will drive the technology set-up, standalone design and implementation of all required technology capabilities to enable Unilever’s Ice Cream business to become a fully functioning standalone company, separate from Unilever.

The IT Application Architect is responsible for designing and implementing the software application architecture across the enterprise. This role is pivotal in setting the standards and guiding the new organization’s technical direction to ensure scalability, security, and innovation. The IT Application Architect will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to develop an application technology roadmap that supports the long-term business strategy and ensures the company is equipped to handle future technological challenges. This role will require collaboration with technology and business leaders, partners and Unilever IT teams to support the overall set up of a future-fit IT function for the standalone Ice Cream organization.

The successful candidate will be one that has significant IT expertise with a proven record of leading large-scale transformations, has a passion for emerging technologies and a desire to make a meaningful impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Architecture Strategy: Define the software application architecture, ensuring alignment with the Ice Creams overall business objectives.
• Application Standards and Governance: Enforce technology standards, frameworks, and processes that ensure consistency, security, and efficiency across the enterprise.
• Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and direction to teams, including product management and development, promoting best practices and standards, to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and development, to align technology initiatives with business needs and architectural standards.
• Performance Optimization: Ensure software applications deliver benefits and are optimized for performance.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all software application architecture.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, with a focus on software application architecture.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, or Python.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
  • Experience with application frameworks and platforms such as Spring, .NET, or Django.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, Certified Application Architect, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are highly desirable.
